Species: Indian Mustard White / Painted Sawtooth (Prioneris thestylis)
Morphological Characteristics:
The Prioneris thestylisis a delicate and elegant butterfly belonging to the Pieridae family (Whites and Yellows), primarily found in South and Southeast Asia.
The upperside of the male is a pristine, chalky white. The forewing features a distinctive black apex (tip) with internal white spots, while the hindwing often has fine black marginal markings or tiny black spots along the edge.
A key identifying feature is the elongated, pointed shape of the forewing, giving it the common name "Sawtooth."
The underside is typically a pale yellow or white, sometimes with a dusting of greenish scales. Unlike brightly colored Morphos or Nymphalids, this species relies on subtlety and camouflage, blending in with pale flowers or sky.
This specimen is a study in minimalist beauty, showcasing clean lines and a simple, sophisticated color palette.
