Product Details
Species: Sangaris Red Glider / Sangaris Butterfly (Cymothoe sangaris)
Morphological Characteristics:
The Cymothoe sangarisis a masterpiece of African forest entomology, renowned for its breathtakingly vibrant coloration and unique wing shape.
The upperside of the male is a spectacular, uniform scarlet-red, with a subtle velvety texture that appears to glow. The edges of the wings are bordered by a thin, sharp black line, creating a stark and dramatic contrast.
The hindwing features a small, elegant tail projection and a series of tiny white marginal spots near the anal area.
The underside of the wings is a cryptic greyish-brown, mimicking a dead leaf perfectly to provide camouflage when the butterfly is at rest.
This specimen captures the duality of nature: the brilliant, warning red of the male and the subtle, deceptive camouflage of the resting pose.
